Les Loosemore ARPS - AWPF - DPAGB - Fotospeed Ambassador
My interest and driving passion for Photography began in 2001 and soon after that I was
introduced to the family run Photographic Business known as Fotospeed. In the early 2000’s Digital Technology arrived and soon became the “flavour of the future”. It was clearly the way forward for all discerning photographers. At the time, it is fair to say I was slow to switch over to the new Digital Revolution but soon saw the light.
For much of my adult life I was involved in Association Football at the Elite Professional level and I quickly became entranced with the newspaper coverage of football images. This interest led me into Sports Photography. This in turn led to me working freelance for the Western Mail (The National Newspaper of Wales). Eventually my interest blossomed into a huge passion and obsessive love of many other photographic genres too.
Further complimenting my ‘photo taking’ enthusiasm, I have been actively involved for the past 25 years in Judging, Critiquing, Mentoring and Presenting. This includes services and support to a number of Photographic Organisations such as the PAGB, RPS, WPF, also hundreds of UK and Northern Ireland based Camera Clubs. This is in addition to overseas involvement in Australia, Scandinavia and the USA. In Gibraltar, it was with much pleasure to be the Sole Adjudicator at the 2022 Annual Photographic Exhibition, being a week-long Festival of Photography, organised by the Gibraltar Photographic Society.
I am predominately a Print Worker, focussing on Panels and Themed Bodies of work. But to avoid the restrictions of the 2020 Covid outbreak, I embraced Digital Zoom Presentations. I have now delivered over 300 Zoom Presentations and have a very full 2026 Diary. Since my first Print Presentation in the early 2000’s, I have delivered more than 450 Talks and Presentations and still counting. These numbers do not include the hundreds of Judging engagements over the same period.
This brings me back to my very privileged and continued relationship with Fotospeed. We have been Associates for more than 20 years and have created over 1000 Mounted Prints!
A competent and prolific Print Worker, I am still very much involved in developing the Art of Printing. There are many links in the photography chain, but the most important link is the Finished Work. A photograph printed on a Fine Art Paper that will generate pleasure and memories for a lifetime and more.
